Yes, The Leftovers has real nude and sex scenes, and most of them belong to Carrie Coon as Nora Durst, across all three seasons. HBO’s drama, created by Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta from Perrotta’s novel, follows the people left behind after 2% of the world’s population vanishes in a single moment. They lock themselves in a family restroom, she peels off the cash belt and they have fast, half-dressed sex against the wall. Rough edges, bare skin and a lot of breathing. Season 3 Nora at her most impulsive.

Why this one first? It is the most physical Nora and Kevin scene in the series, and it shows exactly what Carrie Coon brings to the role: nerves, humour and appetite in the same breath.

Nora Durst and Kevin Garvey in bed together. The scene opens in cold blue night light, kissing and undressing, then cuts to the warm morning after: Carrie Coon topless under the sheets, head on Kevin’s chest, the two of them talking quietly like people who have not been this close to anyone in years. It is the longest Nora nude scene on the show and the one that makes the Kevin and Nora story feel real.

Three years on in Jarden, Texas. Kevin, bearded now, pulls Nora close in a dim bedroom lit by one lamp. She slips out of her dress, he runs his hands down her bare back and they fall into bed. Short, slow and lit like an old photograph. It is the last calm moment the couple gets before the final season starts pulling them apart.

The series finale. Nora strips completely to go through with the procedure she has been chasing all season. She walks naked out of a trailer, across the floor and down a long corridor of red machinery, then turns to the camera with her bare body in full view. Not sexual, but it is Carrie Coon’s boldest nude scene and one of the most talked-about images in the whole show. I trimmed the clip to the walk itself.

Kevin and the Woman: Motel (0:53)

The flashback episode, set on October 14th, the morning everything changed. Kevin, still in uniform, ends up in a motel room with a dark-haired woman he barely knows, played by Briana Marin. Drinks on the table, clothes coming off, then sex up against the window light. Watch it knowing what the episode is about: this is the exact moment the Departure happens, and she is the one who vanishes.

A second cut of the same motel scene with the close-ups the longer clip skips: Briana Marin’s face, her topless body against Kevin, the bottle and glasses in the foreground and the two of them on the bed. Twenty-seven seconds, all heat, before the show pulls the rug out.

What I Left Out

Jill Garvey and her friends in season 1, and Evie and her friends at the swimming hole in season 2, are characters too young for this page, so none of those clips are here, including every Leftovers clip of Margaret Qualley and Emily Meade. I also left out Meg and Tom in the van in season 2, because Tom never agrees to it, plus Liv Tyler’s underwear-only clips. The wordless cave-woman opening of season 2 is about giving birth, not sex, so it stays off the page. The lion-cult ferry orgy in season 3 is a crowd of extras I could not properly identify, so I skipped it too. Short flashes, very dark cuts and duplicate edits of the same scene are gone. The series finale clip is trimmed to Nora’s walk.

Why The Leftovers Still Gets Talked About

The Leftovers started slow and finished as one of the best-reviewed dramas HBO has ever made. Carrie Coon’s Nora is the reason a lot of people stayed, and her nude scenes follow her whole arc: grief, a second chance with Kevin, and the choice she makes at the end.
