Daisy Ridley Cast in Pregnancy Horror Get Rid of It With Sosie Bacon and Simon Rex

Daisy Ridley is heading into pregnancy-horror territory. She has been cast as Harper in Get Rid of It, a cross-country road-trip horror from Before I Fall director Ry Russo-Young, opposite Sosie Bacon as her sister Jessie and Simon Rex as the mysterious drifter Miller. Deadline, Variety and The Hollywood Reporter all confirmed the casting on Nov. 4, 2026.

I’ve been behind the camera since 2001 and shot more than 2,000 scenes, so when Rey from Star Wars signs on to play a woman who may be carrying something that is not human, I pay attention. Horror casting is where actresses stop protecting the brand. Daisy just did.
The project is launching at the American Film Market through Upgrade, CAA Media Finance and Range Select, with Oscar-nominated producer David Lancaster (Deadline, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter). Filming is expected to start at the beginning of 2027; Screen Daily adds Spokane, Washington as the planned shoot. On X, FilmUpdates’ post on the casting passed about 35,000 views within hours, with Variety and Deadline amplifying the same confirmation.
What Get Rid of It is about
According to the logline shared by Deadline and Variety: Harper (Ridley) discovers she is pregnant after a one-night stand with a mysterious drifter named Miller (Rex). She and her sister Jessie (Bacon) embark on a cross-country road trip, then find themselves fighting for survival when they discover the thing growing inside Harper may not be human.
Russo-Young called the project “propulsive and playful” with “heart beneath the horror,” and said she is “thrilled to bring it to life with such an extraordinary and gifted group of collaborators” (Deadline, THR). Fangoria flagged it as Sosie Bacon bringing Daisy into the horror fold after Smile.

Here’s what I see. Daisy Ridley spent a decade as the face of a billion-dollar franchise. Rey had to be clean, heroic, franchise-safe. Get Rid of It is the opposite brief: a one-night stand, a pregnancy that may not be human, a sister road trip that turns into survival. That is the moment an actress decides to scare you on purpose.
Sosie Bacon already owns modern horror after Smile. Simon Rex went feral in Red Rocket. David Lancaster produced Whiplash, Drive and Nightcrawler. Put Daisy in the middle of that and you do not get a soft PG-13 jump-scare. You get something mean.
My take: after We Bury the Dead and Magpie, this is Daisy choosing the dark lane for real. My bet is Harper becomes the role that makes people forget the lightsaber for a weekend. Watch the casting, then watch her older scenes on her hub — the morgue and the bed — and tell me she cannot go there.

The cast and the AFM launch
Ridley is repped by CAA; Bacon by Gersh; Rex by Buchwald (Deadline). Bacon currently stars opposite Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis in Scarpetta and was in the SXSW title Family Movie with her parents Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick (Variety). Rex is coming off Red Rocket, Blink Twice and Easy’s Waltz.
Sales: Upgrade, CAA Media Finance and Range Select are pitching the film to buyers at AFM. Screen Daily says Rumble Films is AFM-bound with the project and earmarks Q1 2027 in Spokane (Screen Daily).

Daisy lately: London nights, The View, SXSW
She has not been quiet off-screen. July 2026 put her at Midnight at The Never Get in London. December 2025 she hit The View in a full red monochrome look and The Kelly Clarkson Show in New York. Earlier in 2025 she promoted We Bury the Dead at SXSW, and in 2024 she premiered Magpie there too.

The other Daisy: her hottest scenes
Before Harper, Daisy already went there on camera. Silent Witness put her topless on a morgue table. Ophelia put her bare-backed on a canopied bed. Both clips are self-hosted below; full galleries live on her hub.
This is the Daisy Ridley scene fans still pause. In Silent Witness she lies topless on a steel autopsy table as pathologists work over her bruised body, white latex gloves in frame, cold green light, and her face still while the camera holds the morgue angle that made Rey look suddenly mortal.

Daisy Ridley in Ophelia: bare back to camera, long auburn hair over one shoulder, bronze wrap at her waist, sitting on a canopied bed opposite a shirtless co-star under warm amber light and a gothic arched window. Soft, charged, and the hottest Daisy frame that is not Star Wars.
