I’ve been behind the camera since 2001 and shot more than 2,000 scenes, and I can tell you the cheapest costume trick in the world is also the best one: let the bra show. Rita Ora went out as Dolly Parton with a shirt tied at the waist, an icy blue push-up bra right there under it, and a blonde wig the size of Tennessee. No sequins, no rhinestones. Just cleavage and attitude.

Rita Ora’s Halloween costume in 2026 was Dolly Parton, worn to the Unemployed x The Frankie Shop “Dolly Lives!” Halloween party at Ella Funt in New York’s East Village on Friday, Oct. 30. Per WWD, she wore “a blue button down shirt tied at the waist with an icy blue pushup bra visible underneath,” classic blue jeans, a thick red studded belt and red Gucci Donna Horsebit patent pumps, with a platinum blonde wig. HELLO! says the jeans “showed off her toned stomach and tiny waist,” the push-up bra “boosted her cleavage,” and she finished it with Dolly’s big blonde hair and bright blue eyeshadow.

The party itself was a Dolly tribute. The Frankie Shop throws a themed Halloween party in New York every year (last year it was Elizabeth Taylor), and this year’s theme was the country legend, who died on Aug. 25, 2026, at 80 (WWD, HELLO!). Rita, 35, showed the look in a video on her Instagram Story before she left, and Daily Mail photographed her heading to the party “with her cleavage on display in a low-cut crop top.”

New York or Kendall’s party? Where Rita actually was

Some early reports put Rita at Kendall Jenner’s Halloween birthday party at Bar Marmont in Los Angeles the same night: the Free Press Journal listed her Dolly look in its party round-up, and a Daily Mail guest list for Kendall’s bash named her too. But the agency photos used by WWD and HELLO! (GC Images, Getty) are captioned at the Frankie Shop party at Ella Funt in New York on Oct. 30, and the Daily Mail photo story says New York. The New York photos are the hard evidence, so that’s what we go with. We could not confirm she was at Bar Marmont.

Rita vs. Lizzo: two Dollys, two very different reactions

Rita wasn’t the only star who went as Dolly. Lizzo posted her own Dolly tribute on Oct. 31, with a giant blonde wig, lip-syncing “Dumb Blonde,” and wrote that Dolly asked her to play flute on her album in 2024 “when the world turned its back on me.” She got hit with “too soon” and “disrespectful” comments, and plenty of fans defended her (Unilad). Rita, in a much more revealing look, mostly got applause, and some X users asked loudly why the reactions were so different. That’s a fair question.
