I’ve been behind the camera since 2001 and shot more than 2,000 scenes, and reality TV marriages die the same way movie ones do: on paper, after everyone already saw it coming.

According to TMZ, Jen and Zac met on the Mormon dating app Mutual in 2018, got engaged the next year and married in June 2019. They have three kids — Nora, Lucas and Penelope — and Jen is pregnant with a fourth. Their relationship issues were filmed for season 1 of the Hulu series; Jen has said they entered filming in a rocky place and later went to therapy (TMZ).

Jen is also set to appear in Hulu’s upcoming spinoff The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County, premiering Nov. 12, after her move from Utah to Southern California (TMZ).

NICO’S TAKE

"Nico

MomTok sold soft focus and hard feelings. The divorce filing is the part the edit always leaves for next season.

They put the marriage on Hulu, talked through it in confessionals, and now Utah has the paperwork. That’s not a plot twist. That’s the bill.

My take after 2,000+ scenes: when a relationship is already content, the split becomes content too. Protect the kids. The cameras can wait.
