I\u2019ve been behind the camera since 2001 and shot more than 2,000 scenes, so I\u2019ve sat through a lot of casting calls. The best ones end the same way: somebody in the room says what everybody is already thinking. This weekend a real Bond girl said it about Sydney Sweeney.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A woman who actually played a Bond girl says Sydney Sweeney<\/a> should be the next one, and she picked a very specific reason.<\/strong> Trina Parks, who played Thumper in \u201cDiamonds Are Forever\u201d (1971), told The Telegraph<\/a> on Oct. 31 that Sydney \u201chas got ownership of her sexual identity\u201d and would make a \u201cwonderful\u201d Bond girl. The Daily Mail<\/a>, LBC<\/a> and Marca<\/a> picked it up on Nov. 1, just as Amazon MGM\u2019s search for the next 007 reaches its final round.<\/p>\n

What happened: Trina Parks\u2019 exact words<\/h2>\n

Parks, the first African American actress cast as a Bond girl according to LBC and the Daily Mail, was asked who she\u2019d like to see opposite the next 007. Her answer, as quoted by The Telegraph:<\/p>\n

\u201cShe has done quite a range of acting things and basically has got ownership of her sexual identity. Not only is she a talented actress, but has this Hollywood classic kind of style and poise, which really works for her projects and brand.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

She also said audiences \u201cwant to see a woman opposite Bond who is independent and has ownership of her sexuality,\u201d adding: \u201cSydney has those qualities.\u201d That\u2019s an opinion from a franchise alumna, not inside casting information. Parks doesn\u2019t say she\u2019s talked to Amazon MGM, and Sydney\u2019s team hasn\u2019t commented.<\/p>\n

Who else is backing Sydney for Bond<\/h2>\n

Parks isn\u2019t the first. Back in June, Jane Seymour, who played Solitaire in \u201cLive and Let Die\u201d (1973), was asked at the Race to Erase MS gala whether Sydney could be a Bond girl. \u201cOh, I am sure she would,\u201d Seymour said, calling her \u201cgorgeous\u201d and \u201ctalented,\u201d according to a report carried by Yahoo Entertainment<\/a>. \u201cIt is a movie. It is not a mission,\u201d she added. \u201cIt\u2019s supposed to be fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

And then there\u2019s Sydney herself. Asked about the Bond-girl rumors by Variety<\/a> in October 2025, she said: \u201cI don\u2019t know all the Bond rumors, but I\u2019ve always been a huge fan of the franchise.\u201d Would she do it? \u201cDepends on the script. I think I\u2019d have more fun as James Bond.\u201d Variety noted at the time that Jeff Bezos, whose company now owns the franchise, was reported to want her for the role. That\u2019s still a report, not a confirmation.<\/p>\n

The \u201812% chance\u2019: what the odds actually say<\/h2>\n

On Nov. 1, Kalshi\u2019s film account posted that Sydney \u201chas a 12% chance to be cast as the next Bond girl.\u201d The post passed 190,000 views, and fans quote-posted it all evening. Here\u2019s the context the post didn\u2019t give you: it\u2019s a prediction market where people bet small amounts, not a studio leak.<\/p>\n

When we checked the market on Monday, Nov. 2, the last trades put Margaret Qualley<\/a> top at about 63%, then Anya Taylor-Joy<\/a> (26%), Florence Pugh<\/a> (13%) and Sydney, Daisy Edgar-Jones<\/a> and Lily James at about 12% each, with Ana de Armas<\/a>, Mikey Madison<\/a> and Zendaya<\/a> further back. The spreads between buy and sell prices were wide, which means thin trading: a single bet can move a number a lot. Qualley\u2019s name being on top is a betting signal. It isn\u2019t casting news, and she\u2019s had her own very public month (her divorce filing with Jack Antonoff<\/a>).<\/p>\n
