Jennifer Lawrence says she once found crew members on set who had not been approved to be there while she was filming nudity, and she shut it down. The Oscar winner, 36, told Alex Cooper on the Oct. 28 episode of Call Her Daddy that she “came down hard on it,” not for her own sake but for the next unknown 18-year-old actress who walks onto a set (Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, People). Variety’s post about it passed 980,000 views on X by Thursday afternoon, Bangkok time (Variety on X).

What she said

Cooper asked whether she has gotten more comfortable advocating for herself. Lawrence said actors have to be “malleable,” then added: “But I definitely speak up more now because I am aware of the place I have in the industry.” Then she told the story, as quoted by Variety:

“There was an instance on set where crew members who were not approved when I was doing nudity were on set. I came down hard on it, purely because if we are not setting that principle then what on earth is going to happen to an 18-year-old unknown when she shows up and there’s people on set who are not approved to be there? She’s going to be in a position of do I say something and get a reputation for being difficult or do I let these people who I’m not comfortable with see me naked. It was important to me to explain that to the people why that was not okay.”

The Hollywood Reporter’s transcript of the same moment ends with her line: “So it was important to me to explain that to the people why that was not OK.”

Which movie was it?

She didn’t say. Variety and The Hollywood Reporter both describe it as an unspecified film, and nine.com.au calls it “an undisclosed film” (nine.com.au). Some posts online have pinned it on Die My Love, but nothing she said on the podcast names a title.

Die My Love does come up for a different reason. Last year, on the Las Culturistas podcast, she said of that shoot with Robert Pattinson: “We did not have [an intimacy coordinator], or maybe we did but we didn’t really… I felt really safe with Rob.” On the film’s nudity she said: “I don’t care about nudity. I’m not sensitive about it” (both quoted by Variety).

Why it matters

Closed sets for nude scenes are meant to keep the room down to approved, essential crew. Lawrence’s point is that a star can enforce that without paying for it, while a newcomer may feel she has to choose between a reputation for being “difficult” and being seen naked by strangers. She chose to use her position to set the rule.

It’s the third headline from the same Call Her Daddy episode. She also confirmed she is officially Katniss again in Sunrise on the Reaping and told her “just give me a chance” gay-crush story.
