I’ve been behind the camera since 2001 and shot more than 2,000 scenes, and leather is the one fabric I never have to light twice. It grabs every lamp in the room and draws a line around every curve for you. Tate McRae knew it. She walked into Kendall Jenner’s Halloween party sealed into a black leather catsuit with gold claws and a mask, and the whole sidewalk turned into her photo shoot.

Tate McRae didn’t come as a cute cat. She came as Catwoman. For Kendall Jenner’s Halloween birthday party at Bar Marmont in Los Angeles on Friday, Oct. 30, the 23-year-old Canadian singer wore a skin-tight black leather catsuit and a mask, with a matching black bag, open-toe heels and a belt (Daily Mail). The details are where it gets dangerous. Long black gloves tipped with pointed gold claws. A wide gold belt with a round buckle sitting low on her hips. Black peep-toe stilettos with gold trim. A pointed black eye mask and cat ears over a long blonde half-up ponytail (CelebMafia, Free Press Journal). The neckline is wide and square, and the leather does the rest.

Every piece of the Catwoman costume

• The catsuit: black leather, long sleeves, skin-tight from the square neckline to the ankles, with visible seams down the torso and legs (CelebMafia).
• The mask and ears: a pointed black eye mask and cat ears, no full hood, so the blonde hair stays out (Free Press Journal).
• The claws: long black gloves with sharp gold tips. CelebMafia called them the best detail of the look and gave it 8/10.

Nico’s take: the catsuit is the most honest costume at the party

One more from my side of the camera. Three weeks ago Tate opened the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Los Angeles. Before that she posed topless with nothing but a teddy bear to sell her first perfume, TATE 01, which came out on Oct. 1. Now a leather catsuit at the party of the year. That’s not three random outfits. That’s a pop star building a sex symbol on purpose, one month at a time, and doing it well. My bet, not news: the catsuit photos travel further than anything she posts this week.

Catwoman vs. Catwoman: Tate McRae and Alix Earle

Tate wasn’t the only cat at Bar Marmont. Becoming reported that Alix Earle, 25, did her own silver take on the same character (Becoming). The Daily Mail described Alix’s look as a metallic silver jumpsuit with shimmering makeup and said she nearly took a tumble in her huge platform heels on the way in (Daily Mail). Black leather and gold claws against silver and sky-high platforms: two very different cats, one party. The two have been photographed out together before, including leaving an Oscars afterparty (Daily Mail).

Kendall turns 31 on Nov. 3, and she threw her Halloween birthday party early, on Friday, Oct. 30, at Bar Marmont (Just Jared). The guest list was stacked. Charli XCX came as Lee Holloway from Secretary, with her wrists locked to an arm bar. JENNIE was Suki from 2 Fast 2 Furious. Leonardo DiCaprio and Vittoria Ceretti were the Big Bad Wolf and Little Red Riding Hood. Zoey Deutch was Jessica Rabbit, Rita Ora came as Dolly Parton and Laura Harrier was the devil (Where Celebs Go, Just Jared). Hailey Bieber posted her angel look in a feather bra the same weekend. Cara Delevingne was there too (Just Jared).

Confirmed: the photos are real and from Oct. 30, 2026. Backgrid photographed her arriving, and the Daily Mail, Becoming, CelebMafia, Just Jared and Free Press Journal all reported the costume as Catwoman. Not confirmed: which Catwoman she based it on. The 1960s comparison comes from Pop Crave and fans, not from Tate. Fan accounts said a solo photo came from her Instagram Stories; we haven’t seen the original. The “sex symbol on purpose” line is my read, not her words. X numbers were checked at about 1:45 p.m. Bangkok time on Nov. 1, 2026.
