2. Topless with Garrett (Episode 1). The opening of the series, and the scene that tells you this is not a typical network romance.

Karis Cameron and the Off Campus Cast

Most of Kendall’s scenes are opposite Belmont Cameli, who plays Garrett. The main cast also includes Ella Bright as Hannah Wells, Mika Abdalla as Allie Hayes, Stephen Kalyn as Dean, Antonio Cipriano as John Logan and Jalen Thomas Brooks as John Tucker. The show was filmed in Vancouver, close to home for Cameron, with the University of British Columbia standing in for Briar University.

Who Is Kendall in Off Campus?

In Elle Kennedy’s novel The Deal, Garrett has a reputation, and the show turns that reputation into Kendall. She is in his bed in the first episode, turns up at his door in an open shirt in Episode 3. She is never a villain: she just wants things to stay casual, while Garrett is starting to want something else. Fans of the books call her a classic “puck bunny”, and the show leans into it with a sense of humour.

Her storyline mostly wraps up once Hannah and Garrett become a real couple in Episode 5, so she is one of the characters most likely to change in Season 2, which moves the focus to Allie and Dean.

What Critics Said About the Off Campus Sex Scenes

Reviews of Off Campus spent a lot of time on its sex scenes. Variety praised the show for its careful handling of consent, and TV Guide called Garrett’s teammates “an oasis of consent kings and supportive himbos”. The Guardian’s review was blunter, calling the show “hot fun for fans of bums, boobs, hockey and Heated Rivalry”. Not everyone was convinced: The A.V. Club felt the graphic scenes were “jarring snags” between the lighter comedy, and The Hollywood Reporter thought it did not quite live up to the steam of the books. Kendall’s scenes sit right at the centre of that debate. They are the most straightforward sex scenes in the season, with none of the emotional weight of Hannah’s story, and that is exactly why the show opens with them: they show who Garrett is before he meets Hannah. The show holds 92 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
