I’ve been behind the camera since 2001 and shot 2,000+ scenes, and I can tell you the hardest thing to film is a nude scene that actually makes people feel something. Julia Jones has one of those. Most people know her as Leah Clearwater from the Twilight films or Angela Bishop in Dexter: New Blood, and almost nobody remembers she went fully naked in a grindhouse biker movie first. Julia Jones is an American actress, born on January 23, 1981 in Boston, Massachusetts. She is best known as Leah Clearwater in The Twilight Saga, Angela Bishop in Showtime’s Dexter: New Blood, Omera in The Mandalorian and Kohana in HBO’s Westworld.

A loud, sleazy throwback to the biker movies of the 1960s and 70s that premiered at Sundance in 2008. Cherokee is the woman at the heart of the story: everything Pistolero (Larry Bishop) does in the film is about settling the score for her. She gets both of the film’s best nude moments.

Her hottest scene by a mile. It opens in a dim, pale-blue bedroom with Cherokee and her biker wrapped up together under a knitted blanket, then the light comes up and she spends the rest of the clip completely naked on the bed, stretching, rolling onto her stomach and lying back with one arm behind her head. A rider in a leather vest crouches by the bed and tries to have a serious talk with her, and she could not look less interested. Two full minutes, and the camera barely leaves her.

Cherokee in a sun-bleached desert vision (0:30)

Pure Tarantino-produced grindhouse. The picture is soaked in orange, pink and purple, with lens flares rolling across the screen, and Cherokee appears naked among the Joshua trees like a mirage, long black hair over her shoulders, turning to look straight into the camera. The vision ends with her walking through the haze beside two of the bikers. Half a minute, very trippy and very easy to watch twice.

The emotional peak of Kiksuya, the episode most fans call the best in the whole series. Deep under the park, rows of naked, switched-off hosts stand in a cold blue basement, and Akecheta (Zahn McClarnon) walks through them in his war paint looking for one face. He finds Kohana standing bare among the others, takes her face in his hands and tells her it is time to go home. Dark, slow and fully nude, and far more moving than anything else on this page.

Who Is Julia Jones?

Julia Jones was born in Boston and raised in the city’s Jamaica Plain neighbourhood. Her mother is of English descent and her father is part Choctaw, Chickasaw and African-American. She trained in ballet from the age of four, started doing commercials and local theatre at eight, modelled for Levi’s, Gap, Esprit and L’Oréal, and earned an English degree from Columbia University in 2005.

After Hell Ride she played Dr. Kaya Montoya in the last seasons of ER, then joined the Twilight films as the wolf-pack member Leah Clearwater in Eclipse (2010) and both parts of Breaking Dawn. She was the female lead opposite Adam Sandler in The Ridiculous 6 (2015), appeared in Wind River (2017) and Cold Pursuit (2019), played Omera in The Mandalorian (2019) and Angela Bishop in Dexter: New Blood (2021–2022).
