Florence Pugh is the face of Jaguar’s new era — and Annie Leibovitz just put her next to the Type 01 like they were two characters in the same frame. On Nov. 5, 2026, Jaguar released Leibovitz’s portrait series of Pugh with the UK-built luxury GT, confirming Pugh as the brand’s inaugural ambassador and sending FilmUpdates’ first post past 139,000 views in hours.
I’ve been behind the camera since 2001 and shot more than 2,000 scenes, so when an actress who already went nude for Nolan gets framed by Leibovitz against a £130,000 electric GT, I watch the light, not the press release. Florence is not doing safe car ads. She is doing image-making.
Jaguar’s own media room called the drop “Fearless Vision”: Leibovitz unites British originals — Type 01 and Florence — in a series that treats the car as a subject, not a prop (Jaguar Media, IOL, Saffarazzi). What Annie Leibovitz actually said
Leibovitz did not treat Type 01 as furniture. In the Jaguar release she said she was photographing “two extraordinary and contrasting subjects”: Florence brings “warmth, presence and humanity,” while Type 01 is “sculpted, precise and striking.” She wanted to explore “their relationship as two distinct characters within the frame” (Jaguar Media).
Florence’s own line from the same release: she has always been drawn to people and brands that are “unapologetically original,” and working with Leibovitz on Type 01 felt like a “truly special creative collaboration.”
Here’s what I see. Most brand ambassadors smile next to a car. Florence got Annie Leibovitz, STORIED NYC, and a brief that treats her body language as equal to a grand tourer’s silhouette. That is not a product shot. That is casting.
Jaguar needed a face for a reborn marque and picked the woman who already survived Oppenheimer naked, We Live in Time naked, and East of Eden mean. My take: they did not hire safe. They hired heat with a BAFTA brain.
