I’ve been behind the camera since 2001 and shot more than 2,000 scenes, and I can tell you the bathtub is the most overrated set in the business: the water goes cold, the bubbles die, and everybody’s wrinkled in ten minutes. Stacey Solomon solved all of it. No water, bubbles added in an app, and a husband in a grey wig. For Halloween 2026 she and Joe Swash climbed into the giant round tub of their new house and recreated the Pretty Woman bubble-bath scene, bare shoulders and all.

The Daily Mail led its Halloween round-up with it, saying the couple “donned wigs and stripped off to recreate Pretty Woman’s bath scene in the bathroom of their new home.” The Sun went further and said Stacey “stripped naked in a hot tub.” Stacey had already answered that one in her own caption: “Sorry about the copy and paste fake bubbles I had to add in but fun fact, this bath has no water so here we are… P.S we are clothed under the bubbles.” Her post had more than 2,600 comments when we checked on Nov. 1.

• The bath: a huge round cream tub set into a pink-veined marble floor, piled high with white bubbles right up to their chests. In the film it’s the marble tub of a Beverly Wilshire suite. Stacey’s is in her own ensuite.
• The hair: a big curly wig, Vivian’s famous curls, falling over her bare shoulders.
• The Walkman: a yellow retro cassette player on the edge of the tub, with bright orange headphones in the shots where she lounges back, per The Sun. That’s Vivian’s Walkman, the one she sings Prince’s “Kiss” on.
• The skin: nothing visible above the bubbles but shoulders, arms and collarbones. Stacey says they were clothed underneath. The bubbles don’t tell you that.
• Joe as Edward: a silver-grey wig for Richard Gere’s hair, bare-chested behind her, arms wrapped round her waist, kissing her cheek in one frame and laughing into the lens in another.
• The set dressing: a white Greek column and hand-painted tiles of classical nude women on the walls, gold taps on the tub. Stacey didn’t build that for Halloween. It came with the house.

Pretty Woman came out in 1990, with Julia Roberts as Vivian Ward and Richard Gere as businessman Edward Lewis. It made Roberts a superstar: she won a Golden Globe and got an Oscar nomination. The bath scene is one of the film’s most copied moments: Vivian, lost in the bubbles of a giant marble tub at the Beverly Wilshire, headphones on, singing Prince’s “Kiss” on her Walkman, eyes closed, completely unaware Edward has walked in. They agree $3,000 for the week, and she pulls him into the bath with her. Playful, flirty, a little bit filthy if you think about the deal. That mix is exactly why couples keep recreating it.

That bathroom: how Stacey ended up with a Pretty Woman tub

Stacey, Joe and their family moved out of Pickle Cottage, their Grade II-listed Tudor-style home in Essex, after five years. When she started showing fans the new place, the main bedroom suite stole the show. In September, House Beautiful reported the ensuite has hand-painted tiles and a circular bathtub that Stacey likened to “a giant swimming pool,” and she called it “the craziest, biggest bathroom I’ve ever seen in my entire life.” TV presenter Scarlett Moffatt joked the suite was “bigger than my old flat.”

So when Halloween came round, the costume picked itself. Stacey said it in her caption: as soon as she saw the bathroom, she wanted to recreate the scene.
