Kim Kardashian Goes Wild in 1986 YSL Leopard Couture at the All’s Fair Premiere in Rome

Kim Kardashian walked into her first Rome Film Festival wearing a leopard: its tail curled over her hips and its face staring up from the hem. For the world premiere of “All’s Fair” season 2 on Saturday, Oct. 24, Kim Kardashian wore an archival Yves Saint Laurent gown from the house’s fall 1986 haute couture collection, InStyle reports: a corset-laced mermaid dress in head-to-toe leopard print, with a sheer leopard shawl she wore first over her shoulders and later over her hair. Her co-stars Naomi Watts and Sarah Paulson joined her on the carpet, and so did Kris Jenner, in a cape lifted straight out of the new season’s trailer.

What happened

The “All’s Fair” cast screened season 2 at the Auditorium Parco della Musica, the festival’s home, on Saturday night, the Daily Mail reports. It was Kim’s first time at the Rome Film Festival, according to Italian outlet Whoopsee. Law Roach styled her, and she skipped jewelry completely, finishing the look with pointed black patent heels, InStyle notes. E! News describes the bodice as a “low-cut corset-style” top with a lace-up tie.

One fan post of the photos, from the pop account popbackupp, passed 190,000 views on X within hours.

The gown, detail by detail

• The collection: Yves Saint Laurent haute couture, fall 1986, per InStyle and Whoopsee. The Daily Mail dates it to 1998, but the two outlets that named the collection both say 1986, and so do the fashion accounts that posted it on X. We’re going with 1986 and will correct this if Saint Laurent or Law Roach says otherwise.
• The shape: a fitted mermaid silhouette with a low sweetheart neckline and lace-up detailing between the cups. The same corset lacing runs down the back, InStyle reports.
• The print is the trick: it isn’t just leopard spots. The design draws a leopard’s tail along her hips and the animal’s face just above the floor-length hem, with thick tassel appliqués below the hips.
• The shawl: semi-sheer black chiffon printed with a full-body leopard that seems to lie across her shoulders. She wore it as a stole on the carpet and as a headscarf later in the night.

Kris Jenner’s cape is a season 2 spoiler

Kris, an executive producer on the show, wore a black velvet cape with scorpions on it, E! News reports. It’s a recreation of the Tiziani Roma “Scorpio Evening Cape” Elizabeth Taylor wore to Princess Grace’s 40th birthday party in 1969, and Kim wears a version of the same cape in the season 2 trailer, according to People. Page Six adds that Sarah Paulson’s character, Carrington Lane, wears it in the trailer too, which suggests the wardrobe team made more than one. Taylor’s original sold at Christie’s in 2011 for $74,500 with fees. Nobody has said whether Kim owns it or the show had it remade.

The day before the premiere, Kim and Kris did the city in custom Erdem and Chanel, Vogue posted. Rome got three days of fashion from them, not one.

Who wore what on the carpet

• Naomi Watts (Liberty Ronson, Kim’s co-founder in the show): a black satin Roksanda dress with a paint-splatter pattern and a full skirt, per the Daily Mail.
• Sarah Paulson (rival lawyer Carrington Lane): a custom white Miu Miu gown covered in beads.
• Niecy Nash-Betts (investigator Emerald Greene): a strapless black-and-white corset gown.

Why this carpet mattered to Kim

Season 1 was hammered. It hit 0% on Rotten Tomatoes, and The Times gave it zero stars, the Daily Mail recalls. Kim has since said she feared she’d sunk it for everyone. “I was like, ‘Wait, are we OK? Did I ruin everything?’ And they were like, ‘Listen, we are OK,’” she told The Times, as quoted by the Daily Mail. “I am so used to it, I have a really thick skin.” Opening season 2 at a European film festival, in museum-grade couture, is a clear answer to that year.

“All’s Fair” season 2 premieres on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026, on Hulu, and on Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers, with three episodes, according to Disney+. The rest of the eight episodes drop weekly on Wednesdays until the finale on Dec. 2. In the UK it arrives on Disney+ the same day, per the Daily Mail. Glenn Close, Teyana Taylor and Matthew Noszka are back too.
