Nicole Kidman didn’t get one Vogue Australia cover for November. She got three, and on one of them the sequins come undone. On the cover that has everyone talking, Nicole Kidman wears a red, orange and gold sequin Chanel jacket left wide open over a barely-there string bralette, hands clasped at her chest, under the cover line “I’m a heart-on-my-sleeve kind of person.” It’s her 12th Vogue Australia cover. Pop Crave’s post of the three covers passed 138,000 views on X within hours of going up on Saturday, Oct. 24.

I’m Nico Grey. I make adult films, I run NicoGrey.com and Scandal Planet, and the rest of my week goes to investment, crypto and AI companies. I know what a well-placed launch looks like, and three covers timed two weeks before Chanel’s first-ever runway show in Australia is a very well-placed launch.

Nicole posted nine frames from the shoot on her own Instagram with the caption “Homecoming,” and Vogue Australia posted the covers on its account. On X, Pop Crave and Film Updates shared all three covers on Oct. 24.

What happened

Vogue Australia revealed Nicole as its November 2026 cover star, photographed by Lachlan Bailey and styled by editor-in-chief Christine Centenera. Every look is from Chanel’s Cruise 2026/27 collection, Matthieu Blazy’s first cruise line for the house. Nicole, a Chanel global ambassador, shared nine frames from the shoot on her own Instagram for her 11.6 million followers, captioned “Homecoming,” Entertainment Now reports.

The bralette detail comes from Reality Tea, via AOL: under the open sequin jacket she wears a string bralette by Madre Natura, “thin straps and minimal coverage,” with her midriff bare. The issue goes on sale on Monday, Nov. 2.

Nico GreyNICO’S TAKE

Nicole, three covers in one month is a flex even I respect, and I own a few companies that would kill for that kind of press. But let’s be honest about cover three. Sequins on the sleeves, a string bralette holding the line, and a quote about wearing your heart on your sleeve. Darling, nobody was looking at the sleeve.

Here’s my challenge. You told Margot Robbie you never got cast in a McDonald’s ad. Chanel is flying a whole runway show to Sydney on Nov. 5. Show up, sit front row, and eat a Quarter Pounder on camera. I’ll pay for the burger.

And if you think this cover is bold, you haven’t seen what she did in “Babygirl.” It’s all on Nicole’s hub →

The Vogue covers stop at a string bralette. Her Scandal Planet hub doesn’t: “Babygirl,” “Eyes Wide Shut,” “Big Little Lies,” “The Paperboy” and “Dead Calm,” all on one page.

All three covers, one by one

  • Cover 1, “Up Close With Nicole”: Look 14 from the collection, a red-and-black striped quarter-zip sweater over a layered black-and-white skirt with fringe underneath. She reclines on the ground with her arms stretched over her head while the skirt fans out. theFashionSpot notes the look was first worn on the Biarritz runway by model Laura Savy.
  • Cover 2, “Homecoming”: black and white, Nicole crouched in the water with wet hair, in a sparkling sequin top. It is the cover that carries the issue’s “Homecoming” theme, the word Nicole also used for her own Instagram post.
  • Cover 3, the one everyone is sharing: the sequin jacket and skirt, which shade from deep red to gold, the jacket left open over the Madre Natura string bralette. On the runway the jacket had a ruffled collar and jeweled buttons, AOL notes. The cover line: “I’m a heart-on-my-sleeve kind of person.”

Inside, ComicBasics describes a black Chanel cap with the double-C logo over a black scalloped top and wet hair against a white wall, and shots in “shimmering blue water.”

Who quizzed her, including her “Babygirl” co-star

The “Up Close” cover lists the stars who sent in questions: Margot Robbie, Michelle Pfeiffer, Harris Dickinson, Alexander Skarsgård, Naomi Watts, Hugh Jackman, Kylie Minogue, Baz Luhrmann, Catherine Martin, Steven Klein, Troye Sivan, Zoe Saldaña, Adéla and Lulu Wang. Two names will mean something to her fans right away. Harris Dickinson played Samuel, the intern she falls for in “Babygirl.” Alexander Skarsgård played Perry, her husband in “Big Little Lies.” Both shows are behind the scenes on her hub.

The answers published so far, via Nine:

  • To Margot Robbie, on her favorite Australian TV ad: “I always wanted to be in a McDonald’s commercial… I want to be able to eat the Quarter Pounder on camera over and over again. I never got cast.”
  • To Joey King, on what she’s most proud of: “Surviving. Literally starting out in this industry at 14 and still being here.”
  • On the Adéla song named after her (more than 180 million streams, per Nine): she gave her blessing after reading the lyrics, without hearing the track. “Yeah, go for it. Go for it, girl.”
  • On turning 59: “I think I’m just more comfortable in my own skin right now. That’s my new thing… Weird to get that at 59, but I’m glad to say I somehow got there.”

We haven’t seen what Dickinson or Skarsgård asked. Vogue Australia’s full interview is behind its site, and no outlet has quoted those two answers yet.

Why now: Chanel’s first runway show in Australia

The covers aren’t random timing. Chanel is staging its Cruise 2026/27 collection in Sydney on Thursday, Nov. 5, the first runway show of its kind by a French luxury house in Australia, Marie Claire Australia reports, with a private guest event at Manly’s Shelly Beach the night before, per the Manly Observer. Nicole is one of Chanel’s three big Australian ambassadors, with Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi. No outlet has confirmed she’ll attend. We’ll update this story if she does.

Her Vogue Australia history

Twelve covers puts her in a class of her own at the magazine. ComicBasics points to two recent ones: the 60th anniversary issue in December 2019, shot by Inez and Vinoodh, and February 2024, shot by Steven Klein with a live snake. Klein is on this month’s question list too. The Babygirl link isn’t new either. Nicole won best actress at Venice in 2024 for playing a CEO who risks everything for an affair with her intern, and that’s still the boldest work on her hub.
