True Blood Sex Scenes: Sookie, Eric, Bill and Every Hot Night in Bon Temps
Anna Paquin and Alexander Skarsgard as Sookie and Eric in season 4 (0:25). Every other True Blood sex scene, from the pilot to the finale, is below.
HBO sold True Blood as a vampire show, but anyone who watched it knows it was really a show about desire with fangs attached. Alan Ball, the man behind Six Feet Under, took Charlaine Harris’s Sookie Stackhouse books, moved them to a sweaty little Louisiana town called Bon Temps and let almost every character fall into bed with the wrong person. The vampires were sexy, the werewolves were sexier, and Jason Stackhouse slept his way through half the parish before the first season was over. Here are all 62 True Blood sex scenes worth watching, across all seven seasons, in HD, each with its length and the story behind it.
Sookie and Eric, Finally (0:25)
Four seasons of tension, and it ends on a rug in Sookie’s living room. Eric has lost his memory, Bill is out of the picture, and the cocky sheriff of Area 5 has turned into a sweet, confused man who just wants her. When it finally happens, it moves from the floor to the bed and the whole thing feels like a sigh of relief. The fans who waited since season 2 got exactly what they asked for.
Why put this one first? Because fans waited three and a half seasons for it. Eric Northman spent years as the cold, smirking sheriff who wanted Sookie and could not have her, and season 4 found a way around that by wiping his memory and leaving a sweeter version of him on her doorstep. The result is the most talked-about pairing the show ever had, and the scene people still mean when they say True Blood.
Sookie Stackhouse: Anna Paquin’s Scenes
Sookie is a telepathic waitress who cannot hear vampire thoughts, which is exactly why the silent, old-fashioned Bill Compton feels like peace to her. Their romance carries the first three seasons, and then the show keeps testing her with Eric, Alcide and the faerie Warlow. Anna Paquin, who married Stephen Moyer in real life in 2010, has more love scenes than anyone else in the series, and they track the whole story from her first night with Bill to one last night with him in the final season.
Sookie Sunbathing in the Front Yard, Season 1, Episode 1 (1:19)
Before the vampires, the blood and the werewolves, there was this: Sookie Stackhouse in a white polka-dot bikini, stretched out on a lawn chair in front of Gran’s house with big white sunglasses on, soaking up a Louisiana morning. Her brother Jason rolls up in his truck in a sleeveless shirt and a baseball cap, and the two of them bicker like only siblings can. It is innocent compared to everything that follows, but it is the first image of Sookie the show gave us, and nobody forgot it.
Sookie and Bill, the First Time, Season 1, Episode 6 (1:48)
Six episodes of longing, and then it finally happens. After Gran’s funeral Sookie goes looking for Bill, and the night ends in a room full of candles with the two of them wrapped around each other. It is slow and nervous at first, then the fangs come out mid-kiss and she does not pull away. Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer fell for each other on this show and later married in real life, and you can see why in every close-up.
Sookie and Bill, Round Two in the Dark, Season 1, Episode 7 (0:46)
The next episode picks up right where the last one left off, and the glow has not worn off. The room is almost black except for warm amber light on skin, so you see Sookie and Bill in pieces: a shoulder, her hair spilling over the pillow, his hand on her back. It plays like a memory more than a scene, which is exactly how a first love should feel.
The Candlelit Bath, Season 1, Episode 7 (0:10)
Short and gorgeous. Sookie sinks into an old clawfoot tub with her hair pinned up, candles burning along the window ledge behind her, and Bill slides in with her. Ten seconds of steam, gold light and two people who cannot believe their luck. It is the kind of shot True Blood did better than any other show of its time.
Sookie and Bill Under the Night Sky, Season 1, Episode 8 (0:29)
Nobody bothers with a bed this time. Sookie and Bill end up in the grass outside, lit only by moonlight, his face buried in her neck while she arches back and grabs at him. The blue light, the shadows of the trees and the sound of crickets turn it into something wild and a little dangerous, which is what dating a vampire is supposed to feel like.
Season 2 Opens in Bed, Season 2, Episode 1 (1:18)
Season 2 starts with Sookie and Bill making up for lost time. The lamp is low, the sheets are tangled and the two of them move from slow kisses to something much more urgent. For a few minutes the dead body in Andy’s car and the trouble coming to Bon Temps can wait. This is the honeymoon phase, and the show lets it breathe.
Bill Watching Her Sleep, Season 2, Episode 2 (0:19)
Bill leans over Sookie in the dark, close enough to feel her breathing, and you are not sure whether he is about to kiss her or bite her. She opens her eyes, smiles, and pulls him down. Then the camera pulls back to the bed with the sheets thrown off and her on top of him. Nineteen seconds, no wasted frame.
Sookie’s First Dream About Eric, Season 2, Episode 9 (2:33)
Eric tricked Sookie into drinking his blood, and this is the price: she dreams about him. Blond, bare-chested and suddenly very gentle, he is lying next to her in a bed of white sheets, and for once the Viking is not playing games. She wakes up furious with herself. Fans woke up arguing about Team Bill and Team Eric for the next five years. This is where it started.
Clothes on the Floor, Blood in the Shower, Season 3 (1:27)
Season 3 was the darkest year for Sookie and Bill, and this scene shows it. Their clothes are scattered across the floorboards and they are tangled together in the half light, and later they are kissing in a white bathroom with blood smeared over both of them, licking it off each other like it is the most natural thing in the world. Messy, intense and very True Blood.
The Shower and the Enchanted Woods, Season 4, Episode 8 (1:38)
It starts with steam, a hand on the bathroom door and Sookie’s wet hair, and then the episode slips into a fantasy: Eric and Sookie naked in a blue, moonlit forest, lying down together on a white sheet like something from a fairy tale. Half real, half dream, completely over the top, and one of the most rewatched Sookie and Eric moments of the series.
The Bill and Eric Dream, Season 4, Episode 9 (2:39)
Sookie is healing from a gunshot wound with both vampires’ blood in her veins, and her subconscious makes the decision she never could. In a 1950s-style dream Eric turns up at her door in broad daylight, Bill walks in on them, and instead of choosing she tells them she loves them both and wants them both. What follows on her living room couch is the most famous scene in True Blood history, and it ends the only way a vampire threesome could: two sets of fangs at once, and Sookie waking up with a gasp.
Sookie and Warlow in the Faerie Realm, Season 6, Episode 7 (1:56)
Sookie and Warlow lie naked in the grass on a sunlit plane of the faerie world, red roses around them, fresh from making love. It is the first time she has ever done it in daylight, and Warlow takes that as a yes to his marriage proposal. Sookie very politely tells him it was not. Then she hears Arlene crying and has to leave, and the last shot is the Bon Temps cemetery, a reminder of what is waiting back home.
Sookie and Alcide, Season 7, Episode 1 (1:04)
The final season starts with Sookie trying something normal, or as normal as Bon Temps allows: a werewolf boyfriend. She and Alcide are in bed together, his arm around her, both of them dozing and laughing. Joe Manganiello fans waited a long time for this, and the scene is warm and lazy in a way Sookie’s vampire romances never were.
One Last Night with Bill, Season 7, Episode 7 (0:57)
Where it began, it ends. Bill is sick with Hep-V and refusing the cure, and he and Sookie spend one more night together in front of the fireplace. It is tender instead of wild, with long looks and slow kisses, and because you know how the series ends, it is also very hard to watch. A goodbye scene that earns every second.
Jason Stackhouse and His Women
Sookie’s brother Jason is the town’s handsome idiot, and for most of the show his storyline is basically a list of the women he ends up with. A one-night stand who turns up dead, a vampire-blood-fuelled fling with Amy, a church girl with a secret, and much later a vampire he really should have stayed away from. Ryan Kwanten plays every one of them with total commitment. Lizzy Caplan, who plays Amy, has her own page on Lizzy Caplan.
Maudette and Jason, Season 1, Episode 1 (3:44)
The pilot wastes no time establishing Jason Stackhouse as the town’s busiest bachelor. Maudette Pickens, a redhead with a thing for vampires, takes him home, and the scene moves from her couch to her bed with the lamp still on. Jason is cocky and having the time of his life. Fans of the show know the night does not end well for her, but this part is all fun.
Maudette Rolls the Tape, Season 1, Episode 1 (0:31)
Maudette has a camcorder and a secret: she has filmed herself with a vampire before, and she wants Jason to try to live up to it. She raises her arms over her head and plays the game her way, the camera keeps recording on the dresser next to a porcelain angel, and Jason does his best. It is a short, strange little moment that becomes a big clue later in the season.
Dawn Wakes Up with Jason, Season 1 (1:51)
Dawn Green, the sharp-tongued Merlotte’s waitress, is the other woman who cannot quite quit Jason. Here she is in bed with him, sheets kicked off, the bedside lamp on, and the two of them are as comfortable as old lovers. Lynn Collins gives Dawn a playful edge that makes you wish she had stayed on the show longer.
Randi Sue, Season 1, Episode 6 (0:20)
Jason is coming down hard off his vampire-blood habit, and he tries to fix it the way he fixes everything: with a woman. Randi Sue, a wild-haired blonde, rides him while he grits his teeth through the withdrawal, and then the camera floats up overhead into one of the show’s strangest, most artful shots. Short, odd and memorable.
Amy and Jason Light Up, Season 1, Episode 7 (1:08)
Amy Burley walks into Jason’s life with a bag of vampire blood and big ideas about it, and he is hooked on both. In this scene they share a dose and fall into bed, Amy topless and laughing on top of him, the whole room glowing orange. Lizzy Caplan plays Amy as a free spirit with something sharp underneath, and it works.
Amy Moves In, Season 1, Episode 8 (2:14)
By now Amy has more or less moved in, and the two of them spend most of their time in Jason’s bed, high and happy on V. She stretches out next to him on the black sheets, he grins up at the ceiling like a man who has won the lottery, and they talk about love and blood like nothing else exists. Over two minutes of Jason and Amy at their most carefree.
The V Trip to the Jungle, Season 1, Episode 9 (1:10)
Jason and Amy take a hit together in his bedroom and the walls disappear. Suddenly they are naked in a green rainforest, sliding through the leaves and kissing on a mountaintop under a bright blue sky. It is the purest picture of what vampire blood feels like in this world, and it is shot like a dream you do not want to wake up from.
Sarah Newlin and Jason at the Fellowship, Season 2 (1:28)
Season 2 sends Jason to the Fellowship of the Sun, the anti-vampire church run by Reverend Steve Newlin, and his wife Sarah notices the new recruit right away. Here she pulls him close in her cream suit, and soon they are lying together in a wood-panelled room at the church, Sarah in her bra and skirt looking very pleased with herself. Anna Camp turned the pastor’s wife into one of the funniest and naughtiest characters on the show.
Jason’s Night with Missy and Jen, Season 3, Episode 1 (1:37)
Jason handles guilt the Stackhouse way. At the start of season 3 he is back at it, in a dark room with two women at once, Missy and her friend Jen. The scene cuts between him and the two of them on the bed, everybody very willing and very drunk on the moment, until Jason’s own face tells you he is not as carefree as he pretends to be.
Sarah in Black Lace, Season 6 (0:36)
Season 6, and Sarah Newlin is back with a lot more power and the same weakness for Jason. She walks in wearing a black corset, stockings and heels, and the hotel-room scene that follows is rough, funny and fast. Jason goes along with it while trying to work out what she is really up to, which is exactly the kind of mess he always ends up in.
Violet and Jason on the Hood, Season 7, Episode 1 (1:22)
Violet is a thousand-year-old vampire who decides Jason belongs to her, and she does not ask twice. Outside at night, with the lights of a patrol car behind them, she pushes him against the hood and takes over. Karolina Wydra plays Violet with a cold, hungry stare that makes Jason look like a kid who wandered into the wrong bar.
Violet Takes Jason to Bed, Season 6, Episode 10 (2:14)
After the vampire camp, Violet and Jason end up in bed, and she is very much in charge. She pins him down on the bed, kisses him like she owns him, and Jason looks thrilled and terrified in equal measure. Over two minutes long and one of the steamiest Jason scenes of the later seasons.
Tara Thornton: Rutina Wesley’s Scenes
Tara is Sookie’s best friend and the angriest person in Bon Temps, with good reason. Her love life is mostly a run of very bad luck, so these two scenes are among her rare happy moments: a night with Sam in season 1 and a new relationship with Naomi when season 4 opens.
Tara and Sam, Season 1, Episode 8 (0:22)
Tara Thornton and Sam Merlotte, the bartender and the boss, sleep together almost by accident in season 1, and the show plays it as the start of a beautiful mistake. Under the Tiffany lamp in Sam’s place she smiles at him in the morning light, and later she pulls on a purple slip and looks back at him like she is not quite sure what she has done. Short, warm and very real.
Tara and Naomi, Season 4, Episode 1 (1:15)
Season 4 finds Tara hiding in New Orleans under a new name, fighting in cage matches and falling for a woman named Naomi. In this scene they share a sunny bedroom, Naomi in a lacy bra climbing onto Tara’s lap, and for a moment Tara looks completely at peace. Then her phone lights up with a text from home, and you know Bon Temps is about to pull her back.
Sam Merlotte and the Women in His Life
Sam owns the bar, carries a torch for Sookie and turns into a dog when things get complicated. That does not stop him from having one of the busiest love lives in town: Daphne the waitress, Luna the shifter he falls hard for in seasons 4 and 5, the night he walks into his own trailer and finds his brother Tommy in bed with Natalie, and Nicole, the activist who changes his life near the end.
Daphne Goes Swimming, Season 2, Episode 7 (1:19)
Daphne, the new waitress at Merlotte’s, takes Sam to a pond in the woods and strips off her red bikini to swim. Sam sits on the little dock fully dressed, trying very hard to look relaxed. She floats on her back and grins at him. It is flirty and sweet, and it hides a twist: Daphne is not quite what she seems.
Daphne and Sam in the Water, Season 2, Episode 6 (0:13)
Night swimming, and this time Sam gets in. Daphne wraps herself around him in the dark water, laughing, her hands on his back, and the scene goes from playful to heated in a few seconds. Two shifters with a lot of secrets, enjoying a moment before the season goes to hell.
Luna and Sam After the Run, Season 4, Episode 2 (1:24)
Sam joins a group of fellow shapeshifters for a run in the woods, and when they turn back into humans they are naked under the trees. Luna, a shifter with a wolf’s grin, decides she likes him, and right there in the moonlit forest she pulls him down into the leaves. Wild in the most literal sense, and the start of one of Sam’s best relationships.
Luna in the Kitchen, Season 4, Episode 6 (0:11)
Ten seconds, but a great ten seconds. Luna stands topless in Sam’s kitchen in the late-night lamplight, completely at home, while he leans on the counter in his plaid shirt and stares at her like he still cannot believe his luck. A small domestic moment that tells you these two are getting serious.
Luna Turns Back Into Herself, Season 5, Episode 10 (0:20)
Luna has a rare gift: she can take the shape of other people. In season 5 she uses it to sneak into the vampire Authority looking like someone else, and when the disguise drops she is standing naked in front of a dressing-room mirror. Sam, who slipped in by shifting, is right there with her, and the two of them have to grab whatever they can to cover up and get out.
Luna and Sam Inside the Authority, Season 5, Episode 11 (0:20)
Deep inside the vampire Authority’s headquarters, Luna and Sam are both naked after shifting, alone in a dim office with nowhere to hide. They are scared, they are arguing, and they are still clearly in love. Twenty seconds of nudity in the middle of a very tense rescue mission.
Natalie and Tommy, Season 3, Episode 9 (1:20)
Sam walks into his own trailer and finds Natalie, topless and laughing, in bed with his kid brother Tommy. Tommy smirks. Natalie does not even bother to cover up. Sam’s face goes through about five emotions in two seconds. It is the most awkward family moment in a season full of them, and Kate Luyben makes the most of her short time on screen.
Nicole Joins Sam in the Shower, Season 6, Episode 7 (1:14)
Sam and Nicole are on the run from the werewolves in a cheap hotel room, and Sam has just heard that his friend Terry is dead. He gets in the shower, and Nicole, who knows she is about to be sent home to her mother, slips in with him. What follows is gentle and steamy at once, two people holding on to each other before they have to say goodbye.
Fangtasia and the Vampire World
The vampires of True Blood treat sex the way they treat everything else: as a game of power that lasts centuries. Here you get Yvetta dancing for Eric at Fangtasia and playing in his basement, Nan Flanagan’s limo, Bill’s nights with Katerina and Portia once he becomes king, Nora and Eric, Salome Agrippa working her way through the Authority, Lilith’s first night with Warlow, and the 1986 French flashback with Eric, Sylvie and Pam.
Yvetta Dances for Eric, Season 3, Episode 4 (0:18)
Fangtasia, red curtains, a pole on the stage, and Eric Northman sprawled on his throne watching. Yvetta, the Estonian dancer who has caught his eye, gives him a private show in a thong while he barely moves a muscle. Pam rolls her eyes. Everyone else in the club pretends not to look. Pure Eric.
In Fangtasia’s Basement, Season 3, Episode 1 (0:58)
Eric’s basement is where people usually do not want to end up, but Yvetta is there because she wants to be. She hangs from the chains topless with a smile on her face while Eric works on her, Pam comes down the stairs in leather, and the blue light makes it all look like a music video. Kinky, consensual and very much Eric’s world.
Anne at the Strip Club, Season 3, Episode 4 (0:45)
Bill walks into a strip club called Girls! Girls! Girls! looking for someone, and Anne dances for him under purple lights, peeling off her top and swaying close. Bill sits perfectly still in the dark with that unreadable vampire face. Season 3 Bill was a very different man, and this scene is a hint of how far he has drifted.
Nan Flanagan’s Limo, Season 3 (0:24)
Nan Flanagan is the face of the American Vampire League on TV, all pearls and press releases. In private she rides around in a stretch limo with two topless women, takes a work call in the back seat and barely looks up while they keep her company. It is a funny, sly peek at the vampire spokeswoman when the cameras are off.
Katerina and Bill, Season 4 (0:14)
Bill is the vampire king of Louisiana now, and kings do not sleep alone. Katerina Pelham, a witch who spies on Marnie’s coven for him, is with him on the big patterned bed in his mansion, and the scene is short, glossy and to the point. A glimpse of Bill enjoying the power he swore he never wanted.
Portia and Bill, Season 4, Episode 3 (0:36)
Portia Bellefleur, Andy’s sister and a lawyer who has never been told no, walks into Bill’s house and seduces him. They kiss on the couch in the dark, she pulls him down, and he lets her. The twist comes later, when Bill finds out they are family, generations apart. The scene itself is hot. The aftermath is one of the show’s funniest gross-outs.
Nora and Eric, Season 5 (2:08)
Nora Gainesborough is Eric’s vampire sister, made by the same maker, and the two of them have a history that goes back centuries. When she turns up in season 5 they fall into each other in the dark, kissing hungrily before tumbling into bed. Lucy Griffiths gives Nora a soft English voice and a very sharp bite.
Salome Waits for Eric, Season 5, Episode 3 (0:17)
Salome Agrippa, a two-thousand-year-old vampire who claims to be the real Salome from the Bible, lies naked across a red silk bed and invites Eric over with one look. Eric, still in his black jacket, takes his time walking in. Short, rich in colour, and the start of Salome’s habit of collecting powerful men.
Salome and Roman, Season 5, Episode 3 (1:43)
Roman Zimojic is the head of the vampire Authority, and he is not too busy to visit Salome’s bedroom. She lounges on the red cushions, he loosens his tie and rolls up his sleeves, and the scene ends with her wrapped around him in the lamplight. Christopher Meloni as a vampire chancellor was one of season 5’s best surprises.
Salome, Bill and a Vision of Lilith, Season 5, Episode 9 (2:13)
Bill and Salome finally sleep together in her lattice-headboard bed, and in the middle of it Bill starts seeing things: Lilith, the first vampire, naked and red, watching him. It is part love scene and part religious fever dream, and it marks the moment Bill starts turning into something very different. Over two minutes of the strangest sex in the series.
Salome and Bill, Afterwards, Season 5 (0:25)
The quiet part. Salome lies face down across the bed with a red silk sheet around her hips, Bill props himself up on an elbow next to her and smiles, and then they reach for each other again. She is playing a long game, and he has no idea. Twenty-five seconds of calm before season 5 gets very bloody.
Lilith Finds Warlow, Season 6, Episode 5 (1:09)
Bill drinks Warlow’s blood and sees where it all began, thousands of years ago: Lilith, the first vampire, rising naked from moonlit water and finding Warlow by the river. She holds him close, presses against him, and tells him he is destined to save vampire-kind. Jessica Clark barely speaks a word on the show, and she does not need to.
Sylvie and Eric Among the Vines, Season 7, Episode 3 (1:39)
Flashback to 1986, in a French vineyard at night. Eric has fallen for Sylvie, a human woman with a soft smile and no fear of him, and in this scene she opens her blouse for him under the vines. Pam watches from the shadows and is not happy about it. One of the few times True Blood showed Eric truly in love.
Sylvie and Eric by the Wine Barrels, Season 7, Episode 3 (0:18)
Same night, a few minutes later: Eric and Sylvie, naked and laughing between the old barrels, kissing as if they have all the time in the world. They do not. This is the last happy moment before the past catches up with them, which is why fans remember it so well.
Pam’s Chaise Longue, Season 7, Episode 3 (0:18)
Pam’s French flashback has the decor of a palace and her taste in company. A brunette lounges topless on an antique chaise in the candlelight, Pam’s big blonde curls appear beside her, and then the two of them slide off the chair onto the floor together. Eighteen seconds that say a lot about Pam.
Werewolves and Shapeshifters
True Blood’s werewolves live hard and love loudly. Alcide Herveaux is the big name here, and Joe Manganiello’s scenes with Rikki and his pack, and later with Sookie, made him a star. Before him there is Debbie Pelt, his wild ex, crowd-surfing at Lou Pine’s, and after him come the pack nights in the woods and Alcide’s father Jackson holed up with his girlfriend Jenny in a roadside motel.
Debbie Pelt at Lou Pine’s, Season 3, Episode 4 (0:38)
Lou Pine’s is the werewolf bar where nobody plays by human rules, and Debbie Pelt, Alcide’s wild ex, is the queen of it on the night of her big ceremony. She crowd-surfs half undressed over a pack of howling, cheering wolves under a flickering light, the whole room drunk on noise. Brit Morgan plays Debbie as pure chaos in heels.
Rikki in the Yard, Season 5, Episode 1 (0:52)
A tense night-time standoff outside a house in the woods: Sam on the porch with no shirt on, Luna behind him, and in the yard Rikki, a she-wolf from the Shreveport pack, completely naked and not the least bit bothered. When the stare-down ends she turns and walks back into the dark. Kelly Overton makes an entrance that sets up her whole storyline.
Rikki and Alcide, Season 5, Episode 8 (1:20)
Rikki has been circling Alcide all season, and it finally happens in his dark living room: she climbs onto him in a chair, they move to the bed, and the camera stays close on her face and his hands. It is fast, physical and a little feral, which suits two werewolves perfectly.
Alcide’s Pack in the Woods, Season 6, Episode 1 (1:40)
Being packmaster has its perks. Alcide is in the woods at night with Rikki and Danielle, two of his she-wolves, and nobody is wearing clothes after the run. Kisses get passed around, Danielle walks naked through the trees, and Alcide looks like a man who could get used to this. Short and very wild.
Jenny and Jackson at the Motel, Season 6, Episode 6 (0:44)
Jackson Herveaux, Alcide’s rough-edged father, has a girlfriend named Jenny, and they are holed up in a roadside motel. He stands in the doorway in a towel, she lounges topless on the bed behind him, and the whole scene has the lazy, sweaty feel of a Louisiana afternoon. Robert Patrick and Stacy Haiduk are a great pair.
Jenny on the Couch, Season 7, Episode 4 (0:47)
A season later, Jenny and Jackson are still together, now in a cramped trailer with curtains drawn against the sun. She curls up next to him on the sofa in her underwear, teasing him, and he does not stand a chance. A small, funny, lived-in moment that shows these two are the real thing in their own messy way.
Bon Temps and Beyond
The last group is everyone else: Maryann’s pool parties in season 2, Sarah Newlin’s very spiritual retreat in the final season, and one of the sweetest scenes the show ever did, Arlene finally letting herself be happy again with Keith.
Pool Party at the Mansion, Season 2, Episode 3 (1:08)
Maryann’s house parties start off as fun, and this is the fun part. Late at night by the pool, Lindsey goes topless, kisses a guy in the water, walks around with a beer bottle in her hand and dances near the fire. For now it is just a hot Louisiana night and a party that is about to get much stranger.
Sarah Newlin Finds a Guru, Season 7, Episode 3 (2:35)
Season 7 finds Sarah Newlin hiding from just about everyone at a spiritual retreat, and she has, of course, found a way to sleep with the guru. After a yoga session she ends up in his bed with candles everywhere, both of them blissed out and very naked. Anna Camp plays Sarah’s latest reinvention with a straight face, which makes it even funnier.
Sarah and the Guru by Candlelight, Season 7, Episode 3 (1:54)
More from Sarah’s spiritual awakening. She sits up in the guru’s bed in a white wrap, then throws herself into it, head thrown back and moaning about enlightenment. The room glows with dozens of candles, and the joke is that Sarah has never been less enlightened in her life.
Arlene and Keith on the Pool Table, Season 7, Episode 7 (1:09)
Arlene Fowler has lost Rene, lost Terry and survived everything else Bon Temps could throw at her, and in the final season she finally lets herself fall for someone new: Keith, a vampire. After closing at Bellefleur’s, under the neon pig sign, they kiss and end up on the pool table. Carrie Preston has been the heart of the show for seven years, and it is lovely to see Arlene get a happy scene.
Why True Blood Still Gets Searched
True Blood came out right in the middle of the vampire boom, but it was the opposite of the polite, chaste vampire romances that were popular at the time. It was adult, funny, bloody and openly about sex, and the opening credits told you so before the first episode even started. Every relationship has a supernatural twist, a jealous rival and usually a body somewhere nearby. Seven seasons, a huge cast and HBO’s freedom add up to one of the longest lists of love scenes on cable, and new viewers keep finding the show on streaming every year.
