Malin Akerman & Brittany Snow Share a Bubble Bath in Hunting Wives Season 2 Trailer
Margo and Sophie are back in the bathtub, and Maple Brook has another body to explain. Netflix dropped the first full trailer for “The Hunting Wives” Season 2 on Tuesday, October 20, and it ends on the moment fans have been waiting for since last summer: Malin Akerman’s Margo and Brittany Snow’s Sophie sharing a bubble bath. “Let’s wash off all of last night’s sins,” Margo says. “I don’t think we could wash off what we did last night,” Sophie answers, as Netflix Tudum quotes it. All eight episodes land on Netflix on Thursday, November 26, which is Thanksgiving Day in the U.S., The Hollywood Reporter reports.
Watch the trailer: Netflix’s official posts
Netflix posted the full trailer on X at 10 a.m. ET on Tuesday, October 20 (9 p.m. in Bangkok). Here it is, plus the Tudum and Deadline posts that followed.
What the trailer actually shows
Here’s what’s on screen, as described by Tudum, TheWrap, People and Deadline, so you know exactly what Netflix has confirmed:
- It opens on clothes all over the floor. TheWrap says that’s the very first shot, before we cut to Sophie in couples therapy with her husband Graham (Evan Jonigkeit).
- Graham asks the question. “Are you still dreaming about her?” he says, meaning Margo, per People.
- Sophie knows the danger. “It’s classic Margo: She gets her hooks in you and then she manipulates you until there’s no you left,” she says, People reports. Then she goes right back anyway.
- Someone points a gun at them. TheWrap says Margo is held at gunpoint while she’s being intimate with Sophie.
- There’s a new body. Town detectives find another one, and a Texas politician promises “a little Texas justice,” according to TheWrap.
- Callie isn’t over it. Tudum says Jaime Ray Newman’s Callie “seems to be out for her lover’s neck.”
- The soundtrack is a wink. Deadline points out the trailer is set to Nancy Sinatra’s “Bang Bang,” which matches Netflix’s own caption: “Back with a bang.”
And people are watching. Netflix’s trailer post on X showed more than 4.6 million views on X’s own counter within about 13 hours, which is why we’re writing about it this morning.

The camera crew mystery: two outlets, two theories
One detail in the trailer has two different readings. A film crew follows Margo and her husband Jed (Dermot Mulroney) around. TheWrap thinks it’s “potentially documenting” Jed’s campaign to become governor of Texas. The Hollywood Reporter sees “the entry of a reality show, a la The Real Housewives.” Netflix hasn’t said which, so we’ll find out on November 26. Our guess? With Margo in front of a camera, either way it won’t stay polite for long.
Before you binge Season 2, see how Margo and Sophie got here. Malin’s Scandal Planet hub has her Season 1 scenes with Brittany Snow, plus “Watchmen,” “Billions” and “The Heartbreak Kid.”
Who’s new in Maple Brook
Season 2 brings in some big names. Here’s who they play, according to Tudum’s cast guide, TheWrap and People:
- John Stamos is Chase Brylan, “a fast-talking country music king” with “a cowboy hat as big as his ego.” (People described him in the trailer as “an eccentric photographer,” so expect more than one side of him.)
- Dale Dickey is Zelda Moffitt. TheWrap says she shows up armed, with a bandana around her head, and People calls her “a biker gang member of sorts.”
- Kim Matula is Nadia Kelly, a “magnetic Hollywood producer” and this season’s newcomer in town, per Tudum.
- Cam Gigandet plays Gentle John, says TheWrap.
- Angel Reese, the WNBA star, plus Branton Box and Alex FitzAlan are also in the cast, according to the season’s official listing shared by The Futon Critic.

Where Season 1 left Margo and Sophie
If you need a quick refresher: Season 1 ended with the two women on the outs after Margo’s brother Kyle was killed and thrown off a cliff, TheWrap recaps. Tudum’s logline picks up from there: “old secrets and new foes force them back together.”
The stars say it gets wilder. Akerman, 48, told People in May that Season 2 is “a little bit wilder than the first season,” with “more twists and turns that are really unexpected.” Snow, 40, told Entertainment Tonight that “someone dies,” and that she “stood up on my couch” when she read that scene, People reports. To Tudum, Akerman summed up her character: “Margo always has an agenda… But Sophie, I think, truly has come in and tipped her world upside down.”

Already renewed for Season 3
Netflix isn’t worried about how this one lands. Tudum says the show “has already been picked up for a third season,” and creator Rebecca Cutter promises: “Season 3 will be even more scandalous and twisted.” Not everyone is taking it seriously, and that’s part of the fun. Vulture‘s headline calls Season 2 “Dramatic and Silly.”
The show is based on May Cobb’s novel “The Hunting Wives,” and Lionsgate Television makes it. Season 1 is streaming on Netflix now.
