Son Ye-jin and the Cast of The Scandal

Son Ye-jin plays Lady Cho, the elegant schemer whose wager with Jo Won sets the whole story in motion. She plays seduction with words, glances and power games rather than nudity: Son Ye-jin has no nude scenes in The Scandal. Ji Chang-wook plays Jo Won and Nana plays Hui-yeon. Shin Youn-ha plays So-ok; because the story establishes So-ok as a minor, we do not host any of her scenes.

About The Scandal (Netflix, 2026) and Nana’s Hui-yeon

The show. The Scandal is an eight-episode Netflix K-drama that premiered on 18 September 2026. It adapts Choderlos de Laclos’ Les Liaisons dangereuses by way of the 2003 Korean film Untold Scandal, moving the aristocratic games of seduction to the Joseon court.

Cast and crew. Son Ye-jin (Lady Cho), Ji Chang-wook (Jo Won), Nana (Hui-yeon) and Shin Youn-ha (So-ok). Written by Lee Seung-young and Ahn Hye-song and directed by Jung Ji-woo.

Who’s who. Fans of the novel will recognise the roles. Lady Cho is the show’s Marquise de Merteuil, the brilliant manipulator who treats seduction as a game of power. Jo Won is its Valmont, the charming rake who accepts her challenge. Nana’s Hui-yeon takes the part of Madame de Tourvel, the devout woman whose virtue is the prize, and So-ok corresponds to Cécile de Volanges. As in the novel, the wager that starts as sport turns into real feeling, and that is what gives Hui-yeon’s night with Jo Won its weight: it is the moment the game stops being a game.

Untold Scandal (2003). The series is the second Korean take on the story. E J-yong’s 2003 film Untold Scandal first moved Les Liaisons dangereuses to the Joseon dynasty, with Bae Yong-joon, Lee Mi-sook and Jeon Do-yeon in the lead roles. The 2026 drama has eight hours instead of two to tell the story, which lets Hui-yeon’s slow surrender play out across several episodes before the love scene that tops this page.
